These foods aren’t as low carb as you think!
Unbelievable! We had no idea either
When planning a healthy, low-carb week, the first thing we always do is avoid bread. While it’s true that a sandwich is high in carbohydrates, there are many foods that you wouldn’t immediately think of. So we’ve put together a list of some of these secret carb bombs!
Sometimes you’re just wrong.
juices
A glass of orange juice can contain up to about 30 grams of carbohydrates. Also, juices are made up of what are called fast sugars, which make you feel hungry again in less time.
raisins
Although these dried grapes are very healthy (packed with important vitamins and antioxidants), they are also a source of calories and carbohydrates. There are 79 grams of carbohydrates in 100 grams of raisins.
quinoa
Because of the large amounts of fiber and protein it contains, quinoa is a healthy alternative to bread. Note, however, that it still contains 39 grams of carbs per cup.
cocktails
Of course you can also drink carbohydrates…unfortunately! Most people already know that cocktails aren’t exactly low in calories. But did you know that they’re not low-carb at all either? Each glass contains 16-39 grams of carbohydrates!
Gluten Free Foods
Gluten-free is often confused with low-carb, but that’s not true at all! Gluten-free pasta, bread and breakfast cereal contain just as many carbohydrates as the same foods with gluten. So they’re not as low carb as you might think!
