What are the ingredients needed for Crispy Onion Rings?
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 ¼ cup regular flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk or as needed
- ¾ cup of breadcrumbs
- Spice mix to sweeten
- Oil for frying or as needed
Making Crispy Onion Rings
For Crispy Onion Rings Heat the oil in a deep fryer at 185 °C. Cut the onion slices into rings and set aside. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl. Dip the onion slices in the flour mixture until they are completely covered, then set aside. Using a fork, stir the egg and milk into the flour mixture. Dip the floured rings in batter and drain on a wire rack until the batter stops dripping.
Soak Crispy Onion Rings in Galata Flour
Spread the galata flour on a plate or shallow bowl. Place the rings one by one in the Galata flour and smear both sides just enough to cover them. Then gently tap off the crumbs of excess galata flour. The filler should adhere very well. Repeat the process with the remaining rings.
Fry the rings one at a time for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Season with salt and serve.
